We would definitely recommend this property to others as well as come the property again. The one we love most was the bubbles in the pool with the huge balls, it was so darn fun! Night time entertainment at the "La Plaza" was great every night we were there. There were plenty of different of events near the pool. The pools were very clean, as were the areas around them. The lunch buffet at Chilis was very good with a wide array of foods. The French restaurant was the BEST we had! We did not try the Japanese restaurant. The Italian restaurant was not a traditional Italian, if you are looking for pasta and marinara sauce, you will not find it there. As far as the "specialty" restaurants, Steakhouse (not really a steakhouse) only one steak to choose from if your an American it was a skirt steak and it was horrible and fatty. This deluxe beachfront hotel is about a five-minute. As far as the food the buffets for breakfast were unbelievable the different things to choose from and so so good. The Riu Palace Riviera Maya packs its beachfront plot with four pools, six restaurants and an A-grade spa. The rooms and hallways were extremely clean. Each of them went above and beyond to pamper us in the warmest yet most professional ways. A few notables: Humberto, Menndez, Erick, Kevin. And the waiting staff is incredible, hands down the best wait staff I’ve had at any restaurant, including Michelin rated. The food was healthy and delicious-so many succulent options. The cleaning staff kept it immaculate, even greeted us every day with little animal figures. As a guest of the 2 Riu Palaces ( the palace Mexico and the palace riviera maya down the street), you have complimentary access to all Rius in the gated community that is Playacar.
Our room had recently been renovated and was beautiful. Msqtie, My family and i just returned last night from Riu Palace Mexico where we had an absolutely beautiful 9 day trip( my review is pending for 24 hrs or so). Our check in experience was quick and efficient and highlighted by a welcoming cocktail. He had our luggage in our room in no time. From the moment that we stepped out of our airport shuttle, we were greeted by the nicest bell staff who quickly helped us with our luggage (while smiling). Guests can enjoy exchange privileges with all RIU Resorts in Riviera Maya. Absolutely wonderful week at Riu Palace Riviera Maya. This striking Palace is located just a short distance from beautiful Playa del Carmen.
